Well, it is officially October! Where is the year going??
Leslie at Books Are The New Black hosts this fun monthly theme and I had a look at October which in fact has two birthstones… I was going to try and combine both of them for funsies in this post but it turns out I don’t really have any books that match for Opal so I decided to go with Pink Tourmaline instead.
The rules are simple:
- Mention the creator (Leslie @ Books Are The New Black) and link back so she can see your post!
- Pick 5+ book covers that match the current month’s Birthstone.
- HAVE FUN!
Happy birthday to all the October babies out there!
I chose to go with Pink Tourmaline for October and after doing a little research, I found some interesting information on this website and this website for what it means…
“A complex family of minerals formed of aluminium borosilicate combined with magnesium, iron, or other elements makes a tourmaline. Depending on the ratio of the stone’s constituents, it can appear in various colours, including red, pink, yellow, brown, green, blue, black and violet. The pink gemstone can be found in Afghanistan, Brazil, Madagascar and Sri Lanka.
Tourmaline is the newer October birthstone. The name comes from the Sinhalese word toramalli, which means “stone with mixed colours,” because it often has multiple colours in one crystal.“

Right, lets get onto the book covers that I was able to find from books I’ve read but not longer own, my read bookshelves and my TBR cart… I found this quite easy to complete for October and I’m glad I chose Pink Tourmaline.

- Dungeons and Drama by Kristy Boyce (Read – still own)
- Flawless by Elsie Silver (Read – still own)
- So This Is Love by Elizabeth Lim (TBR)
- The Murder at the Vicarage by Agatha Christie (DNF – unhauled)
- The Alibi Girl by C J Skuse (Read – unhauled)
- We Just Clicked by Anna Bell (Read – unhauled but might repurchase)
- Cruel Truth by Jen Calonita (TBR)
- Notting Hill Carnival: A Westside Story by Candice Carty-Williams (Read – unhauled)
- You, Me, Forever by Jo Watson (Read – unhauled)
This was a lot of fun to take part in for October and I’ve already taken a sneak peak for November which I will definitely be taking part in!
What pink tourmaline books would you recommend? What would you add to the list?
