Series Review
This book series was my first time ever reading in the dark romance genre and I absolutely DEVOURED them! Honestly, I’m not a dark romance girly at all… My sister kept recommending me to give these a try, and I’m glad I gave in and tried them. I went into this book completely blind and WOW did it make me feel like I was on a rollercoaster of emotions throughout…
Overall, I really like how the series was bingeable and so quick to fly through. Each book is less than 200 pages long and they are so addictive to read. In addition, this series is like a Criminal Minds episode with some hot romance to go with it on the side. However, you’ll definitely end up rooting for the serial killer from the very start. Plus, I loved Lana as a FMC — she is badass.
On the other hand, the only downside was the romance. Although the vibes were great, I feel like it went from the characters being 0-100 in love really quick. There was no middle ground leading up to it…
When it comes to the individual books, Paint It All Red ended up being my favourite and Sidetracked ended up being my least favourite. To be honest, Paint It All Red was a great book to finish the series and Sidetracked just felt very ‘meh’ in terms of plot.
Ultimately, I think the Mindf*ck series would be great to pick up and read if you are in a book slump, or if you are needing your dark romance fix. In fact, when I was in a book slump, these books definitely helped me get out of it really quick. *Definitely make sure you check out the trigger warnings before going into this series because it was DARK.*
Overall Series Rating: 4.3 ★
